Secrets the Vine Cancun Hotel Review

Views from the rooftop pool

For fourth of July weekend, my husband and I took a couple’s long weekend getaway.  We do not do this often, as I usually feel guilty leaving my daughter.  In addition, we love traveling with her, she has been traveling since she was in the womb and she really enjoys all aspects of traveling. But, my daughter was spending a week with my mother in New Jersey, so we took advantage of the long weekend and jetted to Cancun, Mexico.

Main pool

To earn credit card points, I decided to book an All-Inclusive, adults-only resort, using American Airlines Vacations.  After reading dozens of reviews, for hours, I decided to book our hotel stay at Secrets the Vine, an AM Resorts property.  AM Resorts own other properties such as Zoetry Wellness & Spa Resorts, Breathless Resorts & Spas, and Dreams Resorts & Spas.  Secrets the Vine is a AAA Four Diamond chic and very elegant property, located in the Hotel Zone of Cancun.

Outdoor lounge

To take advantage of privileges such as room with ocean view, personalized check-in and check-out, access to a private lounge, upgraded mini-bar, upgraded bath amenities and access to a private pool, I booked a Preferred Club Room.

Turquoise water

Transportation from airport:

Secrets the Vine arranged our transfers from and to the airport, for an additional fee.  The hotel is located a short ride from the airport.  Transportation was effortless and easy.

Check in:

Since we booked a Preferred Club Room, we had a personalized check-in at a private area in the Preferred Club floor.  Our flight arrived at noon, so our room was not available.  We completed our check in process and were able to enjoy all facilities while we waited for our room.

Club level suite
Suite living room
Patio/balcony furniture
Bath with a view

Room:

The wait was worth it.  We got upgraded for free, to a Preferred Club Master Suite with Ocean View.  It was breathtaking.  So spacious! With magnificent views of the blue ocean on one side, and the bay on the other.  The room was huge with 2 full bathrooms and a jacuzzi tub.  A large living and dining area, and beautifully wrapped around balconies with comfortable furnishings.  The room was well equipped, with a fully stocked mini-bar, coffee maker, and bath amenities including toothbrushes and sun tan lotion.

Snacks and Nesspresso Coffee Maker

Dining & Drinks:

Secrets the Vine has five a la carte gourmet restaurants to indulge in.  Bluewater Grill offers grilled specialties such as mouthwatering grilled beef short ribs.  Dragons Oriental Dining, my husband’s favorite restaurant at Secrets the Vine.  Dragon’s served a duck breast in a tamarind sauce, so yummy, to this date my husband remembers that dish.   Nebbiolo Restaurant offers the best Italian osso bucco and vegetable lasagna, Olio Restaurant offers Mediterranean fare, and Sea Salt Grill for the freshest seafood.  We tried them all, and they were amazing.  In addition to the five restaurants, they have a buffet with an amazing spread, especially for breakfast.   The breakfast buffet was truly amazing.  We could find everything from freshly squeezed and green juices, made to order eggs, waffles, Mexican specialties such as chilaquiles, and so much more.  In addition, there is a grill restaurant by the pools and a café offering pastries, specialty coffees and cappuccinos.  The hotel offers 24-hours dining options including room service, all included.  And if 5 restaurants are not enough, Secrets the Vine allow guests to enjoy complementary dinner and drinks at nearby participating AM Resort properties from 6 pm-1 am every day, you just need to arrange a reservation.

Tequila tasting

Secrets the Vine has 7 bars through the property, all serving top shelf spirits.  The Lobby and Piano bars were my favorites, my husband enjoyed playing pool and watching sports at the well-appointed Sport’s bar. Pool and beach wait service is available and bars are available in the pool areas.  At Secrets the Vine, we had tequilas and mezcal’s tastings.  They served Grey Goose and Belvedere vodkas and many options of beers, rums, whiskeys, and liquors.  The wine list is extensive and the property offers wine tastings daily, it is called Secret the Vine, because a wine theme is prominent at the property.  Rooms are equipped with mini bars, and they are refilled with beers, liquors, and snacks, twice a day.

Entertainment:

Secret the Vine offers a packed list of activities for guest’s enjoyment.  They range from mixology classes, to yoga, water aerobics, and dance lessons.  Each night they offer live musical entertainment and theme parties.  They celebrated Fourth of July with an amazing pool party, the food, décor, entertainment was on point.  The fireworks were spectacular, and the food buffet was an All-American wonderful event.

The Beach and Pools:

The beach is beautiful, with white sand, turquoise blue water, and plenty of available beach chairs.  Plenty of pools available through the property.  As Preferred Club guests, we had access to the Preferred Club Swimming pool located in the top floor, with amazing views of the ocean.  Wait service by the pool and beach was amazing, they came around often and we were able to order sushi and other snacks from a special menu.

Smaller pool
Plenty of pool beds and umbrellas

Fitness Center and Spa:

Secrets the Vine has a well-equipped gym and state of the art Spa.  I can’t write a review of these because we did not use the services.

Overall:

24-hour lobby coffee bar

I highly recommend this property if visiting Cancun.  Our stay was magnificent, beyond our expectations.  The staff was wonderful, the food was gourmet, the drinks top shelf, and the rooms well appointed. This is an adult-only property, but AM Resorts has other properties tailored towards families, should you want to bring your little ones.  Go visit this property, you will not regret it.  It is an amazing place and we had a wonderful stay.
